Teen Storytelling Workshop with Jenna Tico of Backbone Storytelling

No one is too young to have a story. But what makes that story come alive? What turns a weird, wonderful, or embarrassing moment into something that transforms us–and anyone who hears it? In this workshop, teens will go through a group process of writing, movement, improvisation, council, and PLAY to mold a personal story into a piece of art. Maybe you're dying to tell your story to others, to feel more seen–or maybe you want to feel more comfortable talking in front of class, or boost your college application game. Whoever you are, your story matters, and this workshop will help you own it.

This group is led by Jenna Tico, director and host of Backbone Storytelling, a local pop-up event centered around music and personal stories. A multi-disciplinary artist and counselor (and SBHS alumni), Jenna spent six years as a senior facilitator for AHA!, a local nonprofit that teaches social-emotional skills to teens and families. She is passionate about using the arts as a tool for personal and community renewal.

No preparation or previous experience required. Please bring a notebook and pen.
