Program Description

Details/Detalles

Our communities are confronting a barrage of crises, from environmental destruction caused by climate change, natural disasters like fires and floods, pandemics, and staggering poverty and inequality. Yet there is hope. Everyday, ordinary people are finding bold solutions to support the most vulnerable in our community.

Join legal scholar and activist Dean Spade for SBPL’s 2023 Book to Action keynote address. Spade will discuss his book Mutual Aid, which offers a framework for those doing survival work coupled with social movements demanding transformative change in our community. Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Mutual Aid and are invited to a workshop on putting the framework into action in their community work.

This project was supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
