Celebrate the release of We Were Here, We Are Here: A Living History of Black Santa Barbara – a brand new book centering Black history in Santa Barbara, written by local author Simone Akila Ruskamp and illustrated by Reyna Harris. Enjoy family-friendly art activities, refreshments, and a page read by the author at this special event sponsored by Healing Justice Santa Barbara. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Simone Akila Ruskamp (she/her) is a Black woman who loves Black people. She is a co-founder of Healing Justice Santa Barbara and the mother of two young children.
