Program Description

Join Mia Lopez, Coastal Band Member of the Chumash nation and Cultural Educator & Cultural Resource Protector, for a morning of crafting with Tule. With 20 years of experience working in local schools and throughout Chumash territories, Mia will be guiding teens in grades 7-12 through the process of making crafts from Tule harvested from the local environment. Crafts made by teens will be displayed at the Eastside and Central Libraries throughout November, National Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Month.
