Have you ever used Wikipedia and wondered how articles are created? Do you have an interest in local history and research? Join librarians from the Santa Barbara Public Library and the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation to learn how to critically use and contribute to the Wiki-verse! Research, learn, and share your knowledge with our learning community!
The program will run over the course of five weeks, with two meetings at the Santa Barbara Public Library and one meeting at the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation’s Presidio Research Center. No previous experience with Wikipedia editing required.
Limited to 20 participants, registration is required.
Participants will:
- Create a Wikipedia editor account and become a Wikipedian
- Learn about Wikipedia general notability guidelines and frameworks for editing, updating, and creating articles
- Practice contributing to and editing Wikipedia articles
- Explore local history resources in Santa Barbara City
