Family Garden Exploration

Join us for this hands on family gardening class in our culinary garden. This program teaches gardening and garden vocabulary in fun and interactive way. Each session is designed for parents, caregivers and their children to participate and learn together. Bilingual staff will be available to assist Spanish-speakers with interpreting the instructions. Gain vocabulary, make new friends, and have fun in the garden! Due to the size of the garden, sessions are limited to 10 grownups and their children. Best for ages 5 and up, but okay to bring younger siblings. Meet at the Eastside Park entrance to the Yanonali Gardens.

April 13th: Eat Your Leaves

Learn all about leaves! We’ll explore how they grow and do a taste test of different edible leaves and learn about the benefits of eating leafy greens.

May 18th: Get to Know Flowers and Pollinators

Learn all about the parts of a flower and how birds, bees, and butterflies pollinate flowers. We’ll dissect a flower and learn how they attract pollinators.

This series is part of Sustainably SBPL, a series of events that promotes sustainability climate resilience, and community engagement through garden education, repair and mending workshops, and food preservation classes, book discussions, lectures, and more. Sustainably SBPL is funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant, administered in California by the California State Library.
