Program Description

Details/Detalles

Santa Barbara Public Library invites members of the artistic community interested in exhibiting their artwork in the Faulkner Galleries to participate in a workshop with staff to explore priorities and ideas for upgrades to the space as part of a planned renovation. This feedback will be considered as Library staff collaborate with Public Works to develop plans for eventual improvements to the space. SBPL is also interested in feedback and input from artists, both individuals and members of associations, as we develop the workflow and processes for applications and jurying for this space. A new policy, approved by City Council as part of the FY24 budget process, allows for individuals to rent the Main Faulkner Gallery, or a portion thereof, without being a member of a non-profit art association, which was the previous practice. Jurying for the Faulker East and West Galleries was done by the Santa Barbara Art Association, and the new policy allows for that to be a public process by the Library Board. Library staff are seeking input as we finalize a plan to present to Library Board at the September 14th meeting.
