Program Description

Details/Detalles

Join SBPL for a very special, virtual event to meet the real-life personalities that inspired the 2023 film, Radical. Sergio Juárez, the teacher who surprised his 6th grade students with his unconventional teaching methods, will join us over Zoom from Mexico to discuss his experience at the struggling, run-down José Urbina López Primary School in Matamoros, Mexico. Paloma Noyola, one of Juárez’s students, found the motivation to stay in school and pursue her dreams. Noyola scored first place on national education tests despite her school’s low standards.

Juárez and Noyola will share their personal experiences that inspired the film and how their lives have changed since that time during this 40-minute, virtual panel discussion. The presentation will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear the real-life stories of these inspiring people!

Please note: All are welcome, but this program will be conducted in Spanish without English translation.
