Kids and families are invited to kick off your summer reading adventure at Kids World in Alameda Park! Kids can sign up for the summer reading challenge, pick out a free book to keep, and celebrate the start of summer. Take pictures and dance with a real Wild Thing from Where the Wild Things Are, complete a scavenger hunt around the park, build and create at our maker and craft stations, and enjoy a Kona Ice while supplies last. The Library on the Go Van will be there with all the library books you need to get started on your summer reading goals!
Our Summer Reading theme this year is Read & Shine! Set your own reading goal on a reading game board and keep track of what you read. Each time you visit the library to check out more books, share with a librarian what you’ve been reading to collect special edition beads. Once you finish your reading goal, come back to the library to collect your prize packet. Thanks to the Friends of the Santa Barbara Public Library for providing funding to ensure every child gets a free book when they sign up for the summer reading challenge and for working with local businesses and organizations to provide the prize packets for kids who complete their reading goal!
