Program Description

Details/Detalles

Community members visiting the Library on the Go van can read the published Teen Poetry Walk poems, meet the teen poets and former Santa Barbara Poet Laureate, Emma Trelles, check out books of poems, and connect with other writers. Some of the poets may read their poems aloud to a small audience. These poems were written in response to Imagining Worlds: Poetry as a Portal, a poetry workshop taught by Crystal AC Salas, a Xicanx poet, essayist, educator, and community organizer.

This project is a collaboration between the Santa Barbara Public Library, Professor Joshua Escobar and students of the Creative Writing program at Santa Barbara City College, and Emma Trelles, the 9th Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara and curator of the Mission Poetry Series.

This project is made possible by the Academy of American Poets with funds from the Mellon Foundation.
