Biologist John Storrer will present an overview of a regionally significant and locally cherished Coastal Open Space known as More Mesa. The program will describe current access, trails, and recreational opportunities. Habitats and their associated plants and wildlife will be discussed. Wildlife species considered to be of regional significance that are found on More Mesa will be highlighted.
Land use policies protecting the recreational and natural resource values of More Mesa will be reviewed. Current efforts underway to preserve the portion of the mesa still in private ownership will be discussed. Opportunities to assist with that conservation objective will be described.
The presentation will be illustrated through images provided by local photographer Mark Bright.
John Storrer is a local biologist with decades of experience in field survey, habitat assessment, and resource management planning in Santa Barbara County. He authored a Biological Assessment and Management Plan for a portion of More Mesa owned by the County and preserved through a Conservation Easement held by The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County.
