This talk will move through the different habitats in our local mountains and the wildflowers that can be found in each, including Riparian, Oak Woodland, Chaparral, and Conifer Forests. Also woven in will be a selection of trails where one can find some of these wildflowers and other wonders.

 

Join author James Wapotich as he shares images and stories from his treks and wanders in our local backcountry. James is a trail guide, UC Certified California Naturalist, and the author of the Santa Barbara News-Press hiking column, Trail Quest. He leads classes on backpacking, wilderness awareness skills, and mindfulness in nature.

Trail Talks is a monthly series of public education talks about exploring the natural world for outdoor enthusiasts organized by Santa Barbara Public Library with support from James Wapotich. In addition to discussion of trails near and far, we feature speakers on the ecology, geology, and history for naturalists of all types.
