Details/Detalles
Feel the relaxation of being in nature, then keep it going with nature-inspired reads!
This experience is inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, which translates to "forest bathing" and is linked with health and well-being. No actual bathing involved! Unlike a hike or a naturalist walk, certified nature and forest therapy guide Tamara Murray of Nature Connection Santa Barbara will offer ways for you to use your senses to connect with nature. No outdoor experience required. We'll close with tea and a snack, community conversation, and a selection of nature-themed books you can check out to read at the park or take home.
This experience is limited to 15 participants and intended for adults 18 and over.
Expect approximately a half mile of gentle walking on uneven packed dirt and flat elevation with periods of standing or sitting.
You may be invited to sit on a rock or the ground if you wish.
Restrooms are available on site.
Bike and car parking are available; 15 min. walk from State & Las Positas bus stops.
Participants must sign a waiver in advance.
Please leave your dogs at home.
Bring water, comfortable shoes, important medications (e.g. EpiPen for allergies), and a towel or mat to sit on, if desired.
This project was supported in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
